Fast Moving Consumer Goods company CG Corp Global, makers of WaiWai noodles has plans to expand in South India by setting up 250 WaiWai City Noodle Bars outlets at a cost of Rs 250 crore.

"CG Corp is planning to set up 250 WaiWai City Noodle Bars in South India by the end of 2020, of which 75 would be in Tamil Nadu", a company statement said.

It said an amount of Rs 250 crore would be invested for the expansion.

"Instant noodles in India as a category has a very low per capita consumption. We realised that unless the consumer starts experiencing the Noodles in various forms this category will remain small in India unlike other markets we operate in.", CG Group, Chairman, Binod Chaudhary said.

These outlets, apart from offering meals, also help the consumer experience Noodles beyond regular recipies, he said.

The company had recently forayed into the South Indian market, by launching a Noodle Bar outlet in the city.

CG Corp Global Executive Director and WaiWai City Managing Director Varun Chaudhary said 25 outlets have been set up in India and Nepal over the last couple of years.

On the launch of the Noodle Bar here, he said Chennai was a prestigious market for the company.
