Clashes between stone-pelting students and security forces were reported from a number of areas of Kashmir today, resulting in injuries to 26 people, police said.

Students of Higher Secondary schools and colleges held protests at some places in Srinagar, Pulwama, Pampore, Shopian, Kulgam, Ganderbal and Bandipora against the alleged highhandedness of security forces during similar student protests at Pulwama on April 15, a police official said.

In Srinagar, the protests were held in Shalimar and Soura areas.

At most places, the students indulged in stone-pelting at security forces, who used force to disperse them, the official said adding 26 people were hurt in the clashes.

The security forces exercised restraint while dealing with the protestors but managed to bring the situation under control at these places, he added.
