The Centre plans to sanction Rs 1487 crore to undertake various measures preventing loss of life and property in Andhra Pradesh's coastal areas, when natural calamities like cyclones occur, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said here today.

Natural calamities called for several measures by making use of technological advancements to prevent losses, he said while speaking at a village in Kalla mandal of Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district after laying the foundation for a bridge, an official release said.

Andhra Pradesh has been given Rs 720 crore and works will be completed by April 2015, he said.
