Conduct "surgical strikes" on illegal sand trade: Minister

Telangana Mines minister K T Rama Rao today directed officials to conduct "surgical strikes" against those involved in illegal trade of sand.

Rao, who held a meeting with officials on sand and other issues, instructed that joint groups of police and revenue officials be formed to conduct checks to stop illegal transportation of sand, a state government release said.

The minister, who talked about various topics in the mines department, asked the senior officials to tour the districts for effective functioning, it added.
