Congress of Kolhan division will organise a 'Chintan Shivir' (brainstorming session) here on February 23 to strengthen the organisation while the party's East Singhbhum district committee will hold a 'Janakrosh Rally' against the BJP-led Jharkhand government's 'wrong policies' on the same day in the steel city.

Addressing a press conference, Rajya Sabha MP and former JPCC President, Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu said the brainstorming session will be held to strengthen the party and ensure installing a Congress-headed Government in Jharkhand after the 2019 Assembly election.

A large number of Congress workers and leaders from across the Kolhan division consisting of East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan district would take part in the session, he said.

"We feel JMM is getting weakened in the state and failed to discharge its role as main opposition party," Balmuchu said adding that Congress can fill the gap.

Senior Congress leaders Bagun Sumbrai and Banna Gupta were present in the press conference.

Meanwhile, Congress' East Singhbhum district president Vijay Khan said the party will hold a 'Janakrosh Rally' against the Raghubar Das-led state government's 'wrong' policies on February 23.

When his attention was drawn about the Chintan Shivir, Khan said he was not aware of the program but the district committee is holding the rally with the consent of the JPCC.

He said a memorandum will be submitted to the Governor in support of their 35-point charter of demands including proper implementation of the Food Security Act properly.
