Cong in Ker celebrate Rahul Gandhi's elevation as party chief

: Crackers were burst and sweets distributed as Congress workers in Kerala today celebrated Rahul Gandhi's formal elevation as party chief.

Party workers thronged the Indira Bhavan here to participate in the celebrations.

Senior congress leaders including Opposition leader in the state assembly Ramesh Chennithala, former chief minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC president M M Hassan, were present at the event in Delhi when Rahul Gandhi took charge as party president.

Former Kerala PCC chiefs Thennala Balakrishna Pillai and V M Sudheeran joined in the celebrations here, party sources said.
