Cong's Ludhiana city chief arrested

The city unit chief of the Congress, Gurpreet Gogi, was today arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in connection with a two-year-old rail traffic blocking case.

He was later released on bail, an RPF spokesperson said.

Gogi was taken into custody by the RPF from his residence at Ghumar mandi locality here.

After his release, Gogi termed his arrest as a "political vendetta".

The spokesperson said a case was registered against Gogi who was leading a protest by workers on May 2, 2015.

It is the fourth arrest by the unit of the RPF in last three months in similar offences, the spokesperson said.

He added that others who were arrested belonged to different political and social outfits.
