In an apparent bid to woo dalits in Uttar Pradesh where Assembly polls are slated next year, Congress will be holding a 'Dalit conclave" here on February 18 to be attended by party Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Gandhi will be attending the concluding session of the conclave which will deliberate on a number of issues concerning dalits including formulating a strategy to bring back the community in the party-fold, Chairman of UP Congress' Communications Department Satyadev Tripathi said today.
The conclave will hold a discussion on "Ambedkar's mission and Congress' vision for socio-economic empowerment of Dalits", he said.

At the event, also to be attended by senior leaders like Mukul Wasnik and Madhusudan Mistry, a discussion will be held on the the strategy for bringing back Dalits into Congress-fold, developing dalit leadership and "anti-dalit approach of SP, BSP, BJP and RSS", Tripathi said.
After attending the conclave, Gandhi will visit his Parliamentary constituency Amethi.
Uttar Pradesh is slated to have Assembly elections next year.

Gandhi will hold a meeting with party workers in Amethi and Rae Bareli and visit Salon.
The Congress Vice President will also visit some villages before returning to Delhi on February 19.
