The Bundi District Consumer Redresser Forum has directed a Hyderabad-based pesticide firm and its local dealer to pay Rs 1.20 lakhs to a farmer as compensation for damage done to crops after he sprayed pesticides from the company in his field.
It also ordered the firm to pay Rs 1,000 for mental agony caused to the farmer and an equal amount for his court expenses.
Radhayashyam's soybean crop, sowed over 108 Bigha land in Bhawanipura village, was damaged days after he sprayed the pesticides, which he had purchased for Rs 12,000 from a local dealer in May 2011.
He then moved the consumer forum and filed a complaint against the local pesticide dealer - Malav Krishi Seva Kendra - Bhawanipura village and its Hydrabad-based firm.
