A corporator of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) was arrested for allegedly threatening a rape victim to give false testimony in the case, police said today.
Prasant Patnaik, also known as Tuna, was arrested yesterday on charges of threatening the woman to give false evidence in the two-year-old case, the police said.
Patnaik, who had resigned from the Congress recently, was nabbed from his house at ORT Colony here, said Inspector in-charge of Berhampur Town police station, Nihar Ranjan Pradhan.

He is also implicated in four other cases at different police stations in the city, police said.
The corporator was on the run for the past few months after police registered cases against him. Police said on October 5 he along with others threatened the woman to give false evidence in the court. He was arrested on the basis of an FIR by the woman.
