A local court today allowed the Government Railway Police (GRP) to conduct polygraph test of the lone accused arrested in the Puri railway station fire in which five coaches of three trains were damaged on November 12.

Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Priya Ranjan Barik allowed the GRP to subject the accused Ramachandran Subas to polygraph test as the GRP claimed that the accused was not revealing the truth.

Earlier in the day, Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials from Mugalsarai, Gaya and West Bengal interrogated Ramchandran in Bhubaneswar.

He was arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from near the trains which were set on fire on November 12 in which at least five bogies of three empty stationary trains were damaged one after the other.

Though there was no casualty or injury in the incident, two coaches - each of Nandankanan Express, Tirupati Express and one coach of Puri-Howrah Express - were badly damaged in the fire.

A high-level probe was ordered following the incident.
