Cars, computers and furniture of the president of Jalna Zilla Parishad, its CEO and other officials were today attached by a local court for not releasing compensation of Rs 4 lakh to a farmer.

The case dates back to year 2000 wherein Irrigation Department of the ZP had acquired land of a farmer, identified as R Londe, of Rajegaon village in Ghanswnagi tehsil for construction of a percolation tank but did not pay him any compensation, following which he moved the court.

In its order dated April 4, 2013, the court had ordered the officials concerned to pay the compensation to Londe, but they were not complied with.

Irked by this, the court ordered the bailiffs to attach the furniture, including chairs, computers and cars of the president, CEO, additional CEO and the executive engineer of Construction Department.

When contacted, CEO Prerena Deshbhartar said she would try to release compensations to the farmer at the earliest.
