Court directs Indore collector to discuss dog bite menace

The Madhya Pradesh High Court today directed the Indore district collector to convene a meeting within 10 days to discuss the menace of street dogs biting people.

The directive was issued by a division bench comprising justices Shantanu Kemkar and J K Jain on a petition filed by social activist Sanjay Pandey.

The bench also directed Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) to present a detailed report on the issue in view of earlier court directives, the petitioner's advocate Amitabh Upadhyaya said.

During the hearing, four senior officials including IMC Commissioner and the Chief Medical Officer were present in court.

The court has fixed October 15 as the next date of hearing in the case.
 

The petition was filed to draw attention of civic authorities towards growing incidents of dog bites in the city.
