A Delhi court has issued fresh summons to a Kazakhstan national, who was allegedly gangraped by three men at a hotel here last year, seeking her presence before it to record her deposition as a witness.

The court sought the woman's appearance before it on May 10 after it was informed by the Delhi Police that the matter regarding service of earlier summons to the woman was still pending with the Ministry of External Affairs of Kazakhstan.

"It is submitted by Inspector Ravinder, present in the court that summons to the prosecutrix be issued afresh and four months' time may be given for taking necessary steps in this regard.

"Considering the report received and submissions made, it is directed that summons be again issued to the prosecutrix through SHO of Police Station Karol Bagh, returnable on May 10, 2016," Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja said.

In the report, the SHO said the matter is being pursued with the Ministry of Home Affairs through letters and personal visits and efforts are on to know the status of the summons issued to the woman earlier by this court.

According to the prosecution, three men, including a taxi driver had allegedly gangraped the 27-year-old foreigner at a hotel in Karol Bagh area of central Delhi on March 12, 2015.

The woman, after arriving here from Khazakstan on that day, had checked in to the hotel with two of the accused, all of whom she knew, it said.

The incident came to light after the hotel staff heard the woman's screams and, on asking her, she had alleged that the men had raped her. The police was then informed.

Police said she had told them that she was on a business tour to India, had come here for work purposes earlier too and had hired a taxi driver, one of the three accused, to accompany her to the market and other places here.

She had met the other two accused through him, it had said.

The police said the woman was initially staying at a different hotel in Karol Bagh and later gone with two of the accused men to the hotel where the incident occurred.

The three accused-- taxi driver Vikas Yadav, Ashish and Amit-- are presently in judicial custody.

The court is presently recording the statements of prosecution witnesses in the case.
