Crude oil futures rose by 2.55 per cent to Rs 3,734 per barrel Thursday after participants widened their bets, tracking a firm trend overseas.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil contracts for August delivery traded higher by Rs 93, or 2.55 per cent, at Rs 3,734 per barrel with a business turnover of 27,672 lots.
Crude for September contracts delivery also edged higher by Rs 90, or 2.46 per cent, to Rs 3,748 per barrel with a business volume of 680 lots.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude rose 3.03 per cent to USD 52.64 per barrel, while Brent crude, the international benchmark, was up 2.67 per cent to USD 57.73 per barrel.
