Crude palm oil prices rose 0.34 per cent to Rs 655.90 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in May edged higher by Rs 2.30, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 655.90 per 10 kg in business turnover of 119 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June was trading higher by Rs 2.20, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 658.50 per 10 kg in 83 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to upsurge in demand in the physical market against tight stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions led to rise in crude palm oil futures.
