Mentha oil prices shot up by 1.34 per cent to Rs 1,311.90 per kg in the futures market today after participants raised bets, taking positive cues from spot market on pick up in demand from consuming industries.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 17.30, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 1,311.90 per kg in business turnover of 95 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in June contracts traded higher by Rs 8.60, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 1,162 per kg in 33 lots.
Marketmen said widening of positions by traders following pick up in demand from consuming industries in the physical market against restricted supplies from Chandausi pushed up mentha oil futures.
