Debt ridden commits suicide by jumping into public well

A 65-year-old debt-ridden farmer committed a suicide by jumping into a public well late on Monday night.

The farmer, Namdev Sampat Desle, took the step after becoming fed up of being a debtor to a local co-operative society at Kalwadi in Malegaon taluka of Nashik district, the police said, adding that he had taken a loan of Rs 2 lakh.

The incident came to light on Tuesday, the police said.
