Defence Secretary G Mohan Kumar reviewed the security situation and preparedness of the armed forces in the strategically important Andaman and Nicobar islands during a three-day visit concluding today.
Kumar was briefed on the security environment and strategic importance of the islands, officials of the tri-service Andaman and Nicobar Command said.
During his stay, he also visited the outlying units of the command including Carnic, Kamorta, Campbell Bay and Shibpur.

During the day, a detailed tour of units of the command at Port Blair was organised for him.
He also interacted with the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar administration, officials said.
