Demonetised notes with face value of Rs 60 lakhs seized in TN

Demonetised Rs 1,000 currency notes with a total face value of Rs 60 lakh were seized from an apartment here today, police said.

Based on a tip-off, police searched the flat, rented out to Dastagir from Namakkal, and found 60 bundles of the notes in a bag.

Police said they were on the lookout for Dastagir, who was absconding.

The government had demoentised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in November 2016.
