Development Officer, two clerks arrested on bribe charges

A development officer of Banswara district and two clerks were today arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a contractor in a raid conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The accused Mukesh Gaur, two clerks Chandulal Srimali and Sanjay Rebari were arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the contractor whose road constructions' bill worth Rs 4.10 lakh was pending, an ACB spokesman said.

The accused had demanded a sum of Rs 1.25 lakh for passing the bills, and of which they had received Rs 25,000 for verification of documents, the spokesman said.
 

A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the trio.
