Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar today asked police officers to maintain vigil in sensitive border areas and to ensure coordination and communication with other security agencies along Indo-Pak border.
Addressing a meeting of police officers at District Police Lines Kathua during his day long visit to the border districts today, that DGP emphasised on the need to ensure coordination and communication with other security agencies and maintain vigil in sensitive areas.
He said that proper supervision by the field officers at lower level will make the efforts fruitful.

Lauding the role of people of border areasto work with Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies shoulder to shoulder for maintaining peace in the areas,Kumar described the contribution of border people a success in prevailing security.
The meeting was convened to take stock of overall security, law and order situation in the border districts of Samba and Kathua.
He stressed the need for further improvements in police functioning to eradicate crimes from the society.
He said that investigation of the cases need to be taken on modern lines to bring the culprits to justice.
Cyber crimes and drug smuggling is posing a great challenge to the investigating agencies and it is our priority to take joint efforts and eradicate the crimes, he said.
Discussing the security scenario in border areas, the DGP emphasised to ensure coordination and communication with other security agencies and maintain vigil in sensitive areas.
Public cooperation is mandatory to get desired results from the efforts put in by police at different levels, he added.

Rajendra said that drug abuse is root cause of crimes besides affecting capabilities and energies of our youth.
We have to take along other stakeholders and work for the eradication of growing menace from the society, he added.
Rajendra exhorted upon the field officers including SDPOs and SHOs, who were present in the meeting to prevail secure and crime free atmosphere within their jurisdictions.
He said that the situation should be reviewed periodically at district level and all required steps to be made to gear up the men and machinery for result oriented policing.
