The decade-long partnership between beverages and snacks major PepsiCo and Indian limited overs cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has come to an end.
Confirming the development, PepsiCo India vice-president for Beverage, Vipul Prakash said, "We are indeed privileged to be associated with the immensely talented ambassador and had a long and cherished association with M S Dhoni. We immensely value his contribution."
Dhoni, who captains India's one-day and Twenty20 cricket squads, has advertised PepsiCo's soft drinks and Lay's chips.
Dhoni, 35, had retired from test cricket in December 2014 and plays only in the limited overs format now.
"While we place the brand at the centre, if there is a role for the celebrity that helps to take forward the idea of celebrating our product, we are more than happy to taking it further," said Prakash.
"Our campaigns this year reflect this very approach of keeping the product at the centre of our campaigns and thus, we have had campaigns both with and without celebrities," he added.
