DMDK candidate among 3 to file nominations for June 12 bypoll

Hussain, his cover candidate R Tharmaseelan, and D Padmarajan (Independent) filed their papers on the first day of nominations, D Raajendiran, Special Chief Electoral Officer, said in a press release here.

The bypoll was necessitated following the death of CPI legislator P Muthukumaran in a road accident on April 1.

AIADMK has fielded Pudukottai Municipal Chairman Karthik Thondaman, making it a virtual battle with its estranged ally as DMK has announced boycotting the election.

CPI(M) has announced support for DMDK, the principal opposition party in the state assembly.
