Over a dozen persons were today questionned in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old woman and her two daughters, whose bodies were found in a decomposed state at their residence in northeast Delhi's Brahmapuri area.

The case is being investigated from several angles, DCP (Northeast) A K Singla said.

An official privy to the investigation said that the matter is primarily being probed on two specific lines as of now -- a property dispute and a failed love affair.

Saira (50) and her daughters Mehrunisha (19) and Shabnam (9) were found murdered at their residence in Brahmapuri yesterday.

Saira was married to one Munna who passed away two years ago. Munna had married another woman three years prior to his death and lived separately. During investigation, it came to light that Saira was involved in a property dispute with the family of Munna's second wife.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that a youth from the locality was arrested once on a complaint of harassment lodged by Mehrunisha. He, along with several others, were detained for questioning today and grilled for a few hours, the official said.

He further said, Saira's tenant who was absconding for the past four days and is among the prime suspects also joined investigation today.

The victims had multiple stab injuries and Saira's throat was found slit with a sharp weapon, the official said. Prima facie, they died at least three days ago.

While Mehrunisha's body was found in a bedroom on the first floor of the house, Shabnam's body was found shoved inside a bathroom. The killer dragged Saira's body and left it at the staircase leading towards the terrace.
