Driver of a concrete mixture truck was killed after his vehicle went out of control and fell into a drain in Shantivan area here today.
The accident took place around 3.30 am when the deceased identified as Jai Singh was heading towards Raj Ghat area to reach a metro construction site.
"When the driver reached near Shantivan, he lost control over the vehicle and collided with a wall on the left side of the road and fell into a drain," said a senior police official.
With the front portion of the vehicle into the drain, the entrance got blocked and the driver got stuck between the steering wheel and the door.
Locals called up the PCR following which fire officials, police and disaster management teams reached the spot and dragged the driver out, who had fallen unconscious by then.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The body was sent for post mortem and was later handed over to the family. Singh had suffered injuries on ribs, neck and head.
