A 40-year-old man today died and two others were injured in a collision between a car and a fish-laden lorry near Pariyaram medical college in the district, police said.

The car, on its way from Thaliparamba to Pariyaram, brushed against the lorry while overtaking it. As a result, the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a roadside tree and it overturned.

The driver died on the spot while the cleaner of the lorry and Joseph Kurien, a Pariyaram Medical College student, who was driving the car, were treated for their injuries and later discharged from hospital, police said.

The lorry was proceeding from Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram, they said.
