Driver of Pakistan's news channel killed by armed men

The driver of a Pakistani private television news channel was today killed when unknown armed men attacked him with sticks and iron rods on the outskirts of the city.

The incident happened near Al-Asif square when about a dozen armed men intercepted the van and attacked him, the channel officials said.

The driver was taken to the hospital where later he succumbed to his injuries, they said.

"The miscreants also took away our office van," an official of the Ary News channel said.

Police said it was too early to comment on the motive behind the attack and that they were investigating the incident.
