A 75-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of her ornaments worth Rs 84,500 by an unidentified person here, police said.
"The unidentified accused entered the house of the elderly woman around 3.30 pm yesterday when she was alone," Police Inspector Nilesh Mainkar of Palghar police station said.
"He dragged her to the kitchen and banged her head on the floor and decamped with her gold bangles and chain totalling around Rs 84,500," he said.
The victim received minor injuries in the incident and was later given treatment, the police said.
The accused has been booked under IPC sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint).
A manhunt has been launched to trace the accused and further investigation is on.
