Electronic billboards to dot all Punjab cities

Press Trust of India Chandigarh

Giving final touches to the new policy at a high-level meeting here, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said, with billboards of varied sizes cluttering the skyline of urban areas, it was imperative that a standardised advertising policy be put in operation that would do away with unauthorised hoardings.

He saw the presentations given by multinational outdoor advertising companies, who offered to participate in the ambitious programme of Punjab Government that was cleared in the last cabinet meeting.

He said that the proposed electronic billboards besides giving a planned look to the cities would also increase the income of local bodies.

On the occasion, Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that Punjab has to adopt a modern approach to advertising and there was a need to launch a drive against unauthorised hoarding and check the defacement of public property.
