The Eastern Railway has decided to issue concessional tickets to orthopaedically handicapped/paraplegic and mentally retarded persons with or without being accompanied by an escort as per verdict of the Madras High Court.
Consequent to the verdict, the Ministry of Railways has decided to issue such tickets, an Eastern Railway press release said.
As per the existing rule, concessional tickets were not issued to those type of passengers who were not being accompanied by an escort, the release said.
The revised rule would be implemented from June 15, it said.
