Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today to seek Centre's help for overall industrial development of Maoist-affected Gadchiroli district.
"We have requested the union government to deploy more central forces in Gadchiroli district so that more industries can be started in the region. Industries will ensure that local people get employed and thereby aid development of that region," Fadnavis told PTI.
The CM said that he proposed a skill development plan, better communications network in the Maoist-affected district and also discussed proposed security requirements.
"This will lead to more employment generation, overall financial growth and economic development in this Maoist affected region of Vidarbha in Maharashtra," Fadnavis said, adding that Singh has agreed to "positively consider" his proposals.
The meeting presided by Singh was attended by union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Hansraj Ahir, Minister of State Raje Ambrishrao Atram as well as Members of Parliament Nana Patole and Ashok Nete, along with senior Maharashtra government officials.
Police and administrative officials from Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli districts were also present at the meeting.
