Farmer commits suicide, couple comsumes poison in separate

A farmer ended his life and a couple attempted suicide in the district in two separate incidents, police said today.

A 40-year-old farmer shot himself yesterday over a prolonged illness in the Behda Thru village here, police said.

Sanjay was suffering from cancer and was depressed over it, they said.

The police have recovered the pistol from the spot.

In another incident, a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, who the police said were in a relationship, attempted suicide yesterday by consuming poison in Tandheda village, said SP (rural) Ajay Sehdev.

The woman's parents opposed the match and had fixed her marriage with another man, he said.
 

The two are in the hospital, and are under observation, he said.
