Farmers can directly register on PM-Kisan portal from next week to get Rs 6,000 cash per year under a central scheme and also check the payment status, a senior agriculture ministry official said.
Farmers can also get their Aadhar authentification done from the portal itself, the official added.
Under the Rs 87,000 crore Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Siddhi (PMKSS), which was announced in the interim budget, the government is disbursing Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments.
Initially, the scheme was meant for an estimated 12-crore small and marginal farmers holding land up to 2 hectares. In May, the scheme was opened to all 14.5 crore farmers irrespective of the size of their landholding in the country.
"We are working on three components. First to allow farmers, who have not registered yet, are able to do self-registration on the portal.

"Second is farmers should be able do Aadhar authentification of name if correction is in the process. Third is farmers should be able to check the status of payment," Joint Secretary in Agriculture Ministry Vivek Aggarwal told PTI.
These new facilities will be available for farmers on the portal from next week, most likely from September 23, he said.
Aggarwal further said the government has disbursed more than one installment to 6.55 lakh farmers so far, amounting to Rs 24,000 crore.
The random check of payment received by farmers is underway in several states. The state governments have been asked to cross check 5 per cent of the beneficiaries, he said.
