Fifteen Naxals were today arrested from Sukma and Narayanpur districts of Chhattisgarh, police officials said.

They informed that nine rebels were arrested from Konta area in Sukma, around 500 kilometres from here, while the others were picked up from within Orchha police station limits in Narayanpur.

"The nine were nabbed when a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police was conducting a search operation in Konta area," Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.

He informed that Muchaki Kosa (24), among the nine arrested, was an active member of the proscribed outfit's "military platoon number 8" and was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head.

He identified the other eight arrested Naxals as Madvi Pandu (32), Sodhi Lakhma (24), Madkam Pojja (23), Madvi Sukka (30), Madvi Lakhma (25), Madkam Bheema (30), Muchaki Deva (22) and Muchaki Raja (22).

"They were working as members of the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sanghthan (DAKMS), a front organisation of Maoists, and Chetna Natya Manch (CNM), a cultural wing of the Naxals," he said.

The nine were allegedly involved in setting ablaze a water tanker at Joranala near Injram on April 10, the official said, adding that they had also attacked a police team earlier.

In a separate search operation conducted jointly by Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and local police in Orchha, six militia members, including three women, were held, a police official said.

"The six rebels were tasked with arranging meetings, conducting reconnaissance, supplying materials and carrying out Maoist propaganda," he added.
