"Bojhe na se Bojhena has become a big hit. I had an inkling that the audience will connect with the characters, I made the characters and places familiar, commonplace and identifiable," director Raj Chakraborty, busy with shooting of next film 'Proloy', said today.
"It has been running successfully in over 60 theatres across Bengal territory for past five weeks. And none of the single screens or plexes have taken off the movie in the coming sixth week. This is a record," Mahendra Soni of Venkatesh films, the producers of the movie, said.
In present days, films don't run beyond two-three weeks and the money is raised by seeling satellite rights.
In a record 'Bojhena se Bojhena', where a mishap plays a role in the bizarre turn of events, has been getting over 60 per cent occupancy on an average across the 60-odd theatres consecutively for past five weeks, with decent turnout on weekdays and full occupancy on weekends and evening shows at a stretch, Soni said.
The film, which is different from Hindi road movie 'Chalte Chalte' starring Rani Mukherjee but similarly youth-centric, has thus eclipsed previous film records of the past one year in popular, mass-based entertainer genre made with far lesser budget.
"I think besides the familiar characters, easily identifiable story line and youth-centric very Bengali content, the film's philosophy to mirror the journey of life, love, career, ambitions, little dreams and frustrations and how an accident brought in changes in the relationships, all happening on road, made the audience laugh and cry during the screening," actor Abir Chatterjee said.
"Bojhe na se Bojhena has turned out such a hit. We are all happy. Our work paid off," the 'Byomkesh' of Bengali movies said.
