Fishermen outfit flays govt

Fishermen from all coastal

villages here would stage a demonstration on August 5 to air their grievances, Association for Welfare of Fishermen today said.

Association general secretary M.Veeramani claimed in a release here that although social welfare and other departments have started disbursing enhanced monthly assistance to elderly people, Fisheries Department had initiated no steps to distribute pension to aged fishermen in the last three months.

The protest would be held at the fishing harbour here, he added.
