Press Trust of India Salem
: Five DMK volunteers who protested against the suspension of 33 senior leaders from the party and pelted stones on government buses at a nearby village have been arrested, police said today.

Glass panels of two government buses were damaged in the incident at Ariyanoor last night, they said.

They have been charged under relevant sections of IPC for damaging public property and lodged in Salem central prison.

The DMK high command had suspended 33 party functionaries yesterday for acts of indiscipline based on the recommendations of an internal panel and issued show cause notices on them.
