An Inspector in Food and Civil Supplies Department was allegedly caught red-handed by Vigilance Bureau while accepting a bribe from a depot holder in Batala, police said today.
According to the police, Food and Civil Supplies Department Inspector Rajinder Singh allegedly demanded Rs 8,700 as bribe from Vinod Kumar Chopra who runs a government fair price shop at Sri Hargobindpur town.
A team led by SP Vigilance Baldev Singh and Inspector Gurpal Singh caught the Inspector while he was accepting the money today.
A case has been registered against the officer under Prevention of Corruption Act.
