Forest dept team rescues youth dragged by tiger into forest

A team of Forest department officials have rescued a youth who was dragged by a tiger into a forest in the Sunderbans this afternoon.

Three persons were catching crabs near the Holakhali creek when suddenly a tiger pounced upon 23-year-old Dinesh Mondal and dragged him into the jungle at around noon, a Forest department officer said.

The other two persons managed to escape unhurt and rushed to inform the Forest department office at Sajnekhali about the incident.

A forest department team immediately launched a search operation for Dinesh in the area, the officer said.

The team found him in a serious condition in the forest and have rushed him to hospital, the sources said.
 

Dinesh is a resident of Gosaba area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
