Former Asst Executive Engineer convicted in DA case

A Special Vigilance court here today convicted a former Assistant Executive Engineer in a disproportionate asset case and sentenced him to 28 months of rigorous imprisonment.

Padma Charan Tripathy, former Assistant Executive Engineer, Irrigation Sub-Division, Paralakhemundi, was convicted under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possession of assets worth Rs 7,47,752 disproportionate to known sources of his income.

Special Vigilance Court judge Bibhu Prasad Rout sentenced Tripathy to rigorous imprisonment for 28 months and to slapped on him a fine of Rs 75,000 and in default to undergo RI for further 3 months.

Tripathy, while working at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district, was accused of accumulating disproportionate assets.
 

Confiscation proceeding of the disproportionate assets is under process.
