Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organization Kashmir (SVO) today registered a case against a former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) for allegedly taking bribe in lieu of making appointments in police department.

A case has been registered against Mohammad Sultan Ganie alias Pandit Puri following a communication forwarded by General Administration Department to the SVO, an official of the SVO said here.

He said the case was registered against the former lawmaker on the basis of a "conclusion" arrived at by the Sate Accountability Commission in a complaint lodged before it by Sonuallah Mir, a resident of village Batagund of Handwara area of Kupwara district.
