Six former Congress MLAs, once considered as supporters of former Congress strongman Shankersinh Vaghela, today held a meeting in Gandhinagar.

Ramsinh Parmar, Amit Chavda, Raghavjee Patel, Mansinh Chauhan, C K Raulji and Vaghela's son Mahendrasinh Vaghela attended the meeting.

All of them had defected from the Congress ahead of the Assembly polls last year.

Barring Mahendrasinh Vaghela, all of them have joined the BJP.

Of the six, only Raulji is a sitting MLA having won from Godhra in the 2017 Assembly polls on a BJP ticket.

When asked about the meeting, former Congress MLA from Thasra seat, Ramsinh Parmar, claimed that it was just a coincidence that they were all present in Gandhinagar.

"There was no agenda. It just happened that all of us were in Gandhinagar today and decided to meet. Nothing important was discussed. It was just a get together," Parmar claimed.

The meeting comes on a day when Gujarat deputy chief minister Nitin Patel had to issue a clarification refuting social media reports that he was quitting the BJP.
