Four held for theft of idols

Four persons have been

arrested, including one from Varanasi, in connection with the alleged theft of silver idols from a temple in Boisar in the district around two months back, police said today.

"Four to five persons had broken open the temple in the intervening night of April 23 and 24 and decamped with Silver idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman," Police Sub Inspector Sahebrao K Pote of the Boisar Police station said.

The silver idols weighing around four kgs were collectively worth Rs 1.22 lakh, he said.

Two days back, the Boisar police arrested three persons-- Vikram Singh (32), Rajesh Yadav (27) and Sunil Chourasia (21) from Shivaji Nagar area in Boisar and recovered the idols from them, Pote said.
 

The prime accused-- S M Yadav alias Natu (25)-- was arrested from Varanasi.

All of them were produced in the local court which remanded them to seven days police custody.
