Four Mumbai fire officials get R-Day Presidential honour

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation today said that four of its Fire Brigade officials had been conferred the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service by the President of India on the occasion of Republic Day.

A senior civic body official said that the honour was bestowed on Chief Fire Officer and Director, Maharashtra Fire Services, P S Rahangdale, Deputy Chief Officer (Tech) R A Chaudhary and leading firemen Sudhakar Tambe and Nandkishor S Bawalekar.

Rahangdale has won the Municipal Commissioner's Silver Medal for Extraordinary Bravery two times earlier.

In a function here, attended by BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, 62 firemen were also felicitated and conferred medals by Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.
