The residents of Malshahibagh area of the district blocked the main road disrupting vehicular traffic for about two hours to protest against the alleged erratic electricity supply in the area, official sources said.
People accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of plunging their area into darkness, sources said, adding the protesters later dispersed peacefully after assurances from the officials of PDD.
Ganderbal, represented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the power portfolio, has been rocked by demonstrations against non-availability of electricity in the last few days.
