Gang duping people with job offers busted

A gang engaged in duping people on the promise of providing employment in a Tata associate company here was busted with the arrest of three persons including a woman, who is a resident of South Dinajpur of West Bengal, a senior police officer today said.

The East Singhbhum district police swung into action after a case was registered under Jugsalai police station under sections 420, 467, 469, 470, 471, 120B IPC on June 25 by one Subhash Burman, a native of Itahad police station limits of North Dinajpur, said Superintendent of Police (City), Chandan Kumar Jha.

Addressing a press conference here, Jha said the police received a complaint that Poly Das, a resident of South Rampur under Kaliachak police station of South Dinajpur district, West Bengal, Devendra Kumar Sharma, Laxminagar under Telco police station here and Raju Ravidas of North Chak Bhawani under South Dinajpur district of West Bengal, have duped the complainant and other persons acquainted to him on the promise of providing employment at Tata Pigment Limited here.
 

During the course of investigation, Jha said it was found that the accused have duped Rs 2.15 lakh each from Burman, Sudip Kumar, Samir Pramanik, Subrato Singh and others.

The Police also came to know that the accused were having an office at Dumdum, Kolkata, which was being run by one Bhaskar Mandal and Sukhen Burman.

Jha said all arrests were made from Jamshedpur.

The Police also seized fake appointment letters, counterfeit receipts of payment made by the victims in different banks, Jha said claiming dozens seemed to have fallen prey to the gang.
