Girl commits suicide after teacher scolds her in school

Press Trust of India  |  Ghaziabad

A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Khoda's Mithila Vihar colony after being scolded by a woman teacher, police said today.

The girl, Sonam, was a student of class 11 in a school in Delhi's Ghazipur. During attendance, the teacher asked her the reason for her non-attendance in the school on Wednesday, Station house Officer Dhuruv Bhushan Dubey said.

The girl did not respond following which the teacher allegedly scolded her, he said.

Yesterday, she was found hanging in her room by her father. The police reached the spot and sent her body for post mortem, the SHO said.

A suicide note has also been found in which she has alleged that her teacher "insulted" her, he said.

The police is probing the case to know the intention of the teacher, the official said, adding action will be taken after final investigation.
