The Haryana government plans to develop a logistic hub along the Ghaggar river in Panchkula extension which would create direct and indirect employment opportunities, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today.
After inaugurating and laying foundation stones of a number of projects in Panchkula, he said a survey is being conducted to build an alternative road from here to Chandigarh International Airport which would ease the flow of traffic.
The state government plans to develop a logistic hub in the area crossing Ghaggar river. The area is called the gateway to Himachal Pradesh and the logistic hub will create direct and indirect employment opportunities, Khattar said.
On the opposition's charge that nine acres of land in Kurukshetra was given to Gita Gyan Sansthanam to develop a Gita Research Centre and other facilities at cheaper rates, the chief minister said those who level such charge do not have knowledge about the essence of the Bhagwad Gita.
He said, "Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj has been working on research of holy texts and developing a Gita Research Centre of global standards in Kurukshetra."
"The previous government had leased out land to an institution at a rate of Re one per acre annually. Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand has taken the land at Rs 5 lakh per acre for 99 year lease," Khattar said.
To another question, he said all departments have been directed to appoint chief vigilance officers to check corruption at all levels.
On a demand of restoration of old system of local bodies by dissolving Panchkula Municipal Corporation, the chief minister said this issue would be discussed in a meeting of the state Cabinet.
To another question, Khattar said FIR registration wing and investigation wing would be different in the police department and any laxity in registration of cases will not be tolerated.
