A 21-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room, following which a case has been registered against two of her college teachers who were named in the note left behind by her.

The girl, a student of Rayat and Bahra Dental college here, was found hanging in the hostel room last night, police said.

In a suicide note found from the room, she had blamed teachers Neeraj Taneja and Smriti Bansal for harassing her since a long time and held them responsible for the extreme step taken by her, they said.

The parents of the girl, a resident of Rupnagar, today demanded immediate arrest of the two teachers.

The police have registered a case against the teachers but no arrest has been made so far.

The mother of the deceased, identified as Santosh, Superintendent in the Deputy Commissioner's office, said that her daughter had made complaints to senior faculty members about harassment but college authorities took no action.

College Public Relations Deputy Director Sanjiv Tejpal said that an internal probe has been ordered and strict action would be taken if teachers are found guilty.
